1. Is USCP associated with any government agency?

No, USCP is not associated with any government agency. It is a privately held company. However, if a complaint cannot be settled through mediation provided by USCP and an illegal act was committed by a business, we do work with government agencies to ensure that consumers are protected. USCP will contact government agencies and work with any agency in bringing formal charges against a company or business that violates consumer law.

2. Is there a fee associated with filing a complaint?

There is no charge to browse the USCP website where you can obtain a wealth of information about businesses, consumer law and more. However, there is a small fee associated with the filing of a complaint. An agent of USCP will contact you and work on your behalf to settle your complaint with a business. If USCP settles a complaint, depending on the size of the settlement, USCP will receive a small percentage of the settlement. The complaint filing fee assists in paying for materials and services associated with handling a complaint, such as postage and other materials.

3. If USCP is unable to resolve my dispute, is my filing fee refunded?

USCP does not refund a filing fee. USCP works hard for the consumer to satisfy their complaint. You are constantly updated and have the ability to check the progress of your complaint. Unfortunately, there may be times when USCP will be unsuccessful in satisfying a complaint. In that case USCP would have used every available resource to assist the consumer, which would include time, postage, phone calls and other resources needed when investigating a claim.

4. What information does USCP require to investigate a complaint?

USCP requires as much information as a consumer can provide. To effectively investigate a complaint we would need all pertinent information about the company you are complaining about: Business name, address, phone number, website, e-mail, owner and/or manager, cost of item, product or service, receipts and/or contracts. As much information is needed as possible, but we will work with whatever the consumer can provide. We do the leg work so you don’t have to.

5. Will USCP pursue legal action on my behalf?

USCP does not provide legal advice. We will assist you in getting legal advice by referring you to third party lawyers. USCP might work with the consumer in filing a complaint against a business and may seek the advice of an attorney, but only after consulting with the consumer on the potential cost of bringing legal action. USCP does not abandon our clients; we will help you through to the very end.

6. Does USCP guarantee a satisfactory resolution to my dispute?

There are certainly never any guarantees that you will get a refund or credit, but the one guarantee that we can give is that you will have USCP by your side and working for you. Consumer satisfaction is our number one priority. We work everyday toward settling every complaint we receive.

2. How does my company become a USCP Certified Business?

Becoming a USCP Certified Business member is not always easy. First we conduct a background check of your company to ensure that your company exists, is in good standing in the community, has not had a complaint filed against the company in the past year and has consumer references. The process usually takes one week to complete.

3. If a consumer files a complaint with USCP online, and to other consumers, do I have the opportunity to address the complaint on-line as well?

You will have complete access to the USCP website, including the ability to see if any complaints have been filed against your company. If a complaint is filed against you, we will contact you and work with you to satisfy the complaint. We at USCP understand that some complaints are frivolous, so we ensure that we work with you each step of the way when handling a complaint against your company. Understand that if a complaint is filed with another agency, we will work with your company to try and mediate the complaint, but you will only be able to view complaints filed against your company if they have been filed through USCP.
